A Street Exhibit of Concert Photography
In July of 2007, Radomir Dikosavljevic opened his fourth solo exhibit, his third in Serbia, organized by the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad (KCNS). The exhibition took place in Katolicka porta, an old and very frequented pedestrian square at the heart of the city. Sixteen free-standing panels, placed throughout the square, featured Radomir’s large format works taken at the EXIT Music Festival, and numerous other music festivals in the region.
The exhibition intentionally coinsided with the EXIT07 Musical Festival, which is taking place every summer in Novi Sad, at which time Novi Sad swells with additional 50,000 visitors and music lovers from around the world.
The exhbit showcased more than 30 photographs taken at various concerts, featuring very diverse photographic techniques and lighting conditions. An excerpt from the accompaning exhibit cataloque states Radomir’s phylosophy in putting together this exhibit:
“The streets of Novi Sad should again be filled with music and culture, this summer. This is exactly the reason I had decided to take this exhibit out of empty gallery spaces and take it to the street, among my fellow citizens and dear guests. Out of thousands of photographs taken at concerts and festival in the last seven years, I have selected for this exhibit just those which, besides fulfulling the highest criteria of composition excelence, also manage to emanate those magical moments which all exceptional concerts have, and which every photograph is trying to capture on paper or film.”
